LET’S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE STRIDE  MAT SETUP POSSIBILITIES IN A FIRE STATION

as well as other facilities

The Stride Mat can be placed in a couple of different directions on the drying mat.

THIS “STAMP” SETUP is for 1 minute of soaking when heavy contamination is suspected. It can accommodate 2 people using the mat side by side simultaneously. This is the most effective way to be certain you are diminishing the spread of germs into a facility by boot or shoe to floor contact.

Upon Decon station clean up, saturate the boot scraper and debris with the Quat disinfectant spray. The boot scraper should be rinsed with water after the Quat has been left to soak it for a couple of minutes.

We strongly recommend that the Stride Mat be placed on a 4’x6’ or 3’x6’ drying carpet to avoid slipping when stepping off the mat. The drying carpet will also absorb any spills from the Mat if it has been over-charged or splashing occurs.

ANOTHER EXTREMELY IMPORTANT Stride Mat station should be located when feasible just off the opening side of the doorway to the station’s living quarters. When used on the way into the living quarters, the Sanistride™ system will effectively diminish the spread of any remaining contamination into that area.

OTHER POSSIBLE PLACEMENTS of the Stride Mat can be just inside the entry doorway from the personnel parking lot, and the doorway from the station area to the clerical offices. By creating these multiple Stride Mat stations, the entire personnel section of the station has now been sufficiently matted to highly diminish the spread of bacteria and viruses by shoe to floor contact in the station’s working and living environment. In this photo, entry doors to both the living/office space to the left and station entry from parking lot have been covered with one Stride Mat.

“STAMP” METHOD used here when high contamination is suspected. 1 minute of soaking time will be 99.99% effective against (Accugen “kill” test) the spread of contamination by shoe to floor contact. Please note that the Quat used MUST be EPA registered to be 99.99% effective against the germs targeted for the SaniStride delivery system to deliver the same results.

“STRIDE” METHOD (Two steps) used here when minimal contamination is suspected, no soaking necessary. As treads of boots air dry after striding across the mat, the disinfectant will have sufficient time to be effective against the spread of contamination by shoe to floor contact.

RENDERS MAXIMUM COVERAGE AND SATURATION

For Firefighters and emergency response personnel a major threat for spreading germs into an interior environment is lodged in and carried by your footwear when returning from calls.

To significantly diminish the chances of spreading these germs throughout the facility, we suggest setting up a Stride Mat decontamination station in very close proximity to the returning vehicles or exterior entry doors. In a fire station, if possible center the Stride Mat in front of the parked vehicle. When going on call simply pass over the mat; upon return pull up to it. If there are typically two vehicles departing and returning, center the Stride Mat (maybe two mats) between them towards the front of the vehicles. These two locations allow all personnel to exit the vehicles and contain contaminated footpaths to a restricted area on their way to use the mat. This small floor area can easily be mopped and decontaminated with the same Quaternary Ammonia dilution as used in the mat. Also remember to disinfectant the vehicle’s floor mats and foot pedals. At this decon it might be advantageous to have a boot scraper to one side of the mat as well as a quart size spray bottle of diluted Quat, so any other parts (sides and tops) of the boots as well as pants legs can be sprayed if contamination is a concern there. Most diluted Quats are not caustic to fabric, leather or skin. For most applications in other environments, the boot scraper, spray bottle and gallon of sanitizer is of course not necessary. We do however recommend the use of a drying mat under the Stride Mat.

When you notice the the top insert carpet getting full of debris as shown in above photos, simply flip it over to the clean unused side. If both sides are in need of cleaning, we recommend rinsing the insert packet off in the slop sink or hosing it off and hanging or leaning it to drip dry... the water runs out of the packet quickly. Let the insert stand drying overnight before replacing in the mat well.
